We publish a letter from the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine on the clarifications provided by the EU Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs on the implementation of sanctions against the russian federation and the republic of belarus in the field of accreditation and conformity assessment.
Quote:
"National accreditation and conformity assessment bodies established in an EU Member State must comply with EU sanctions against russia and belarus (www.sanctionsmap.eu).
We have taken note of and approved the EA statement of 7 March 2022 on the crisis in Ukraine and the EA's support for European Union action.
Therefore, EA members registered in an EU Member State may not offer accreditation services to conformity assessment bodies established in Russia and Belarus if these bodies are included in the list of EU sanctions.
In addition, in the current circumstances, we recommend that national accreditation bodies located in the EU stop providing accreditation services to conformity assessment bodies established in russia and belarus.
The above applies not only to new accreditations, but also to the renewal of existing accreditations and the monitoring of conformity assessment bodies.
Conformity assessment bodies may not assess and certify the products of operators based in russia and belarus if:
a) these operators are included in the list of EU sanctions;
b) the import of these products is prohibited in the EU.
In addition, we recommend that conformity assessment bodies located in the EU, in the current circumstances, consider discontinuing the provision of conformity assessment services to operators of products registered in russia and belarus, even if these products are not prohibited from importing into the EU.
The above applies not only to new assessments, but also to current ones. "
